After watching this video, feeling inspired and wanting a pair, a friend pointed out the following contest put on by Google:
http://www.google.com/glass/start/how-to-get-one/
I thought of people that mean the most to me and how me having these glasses could affect not only my life but theirs too. And then it came to me - my Grandma! She has been wanting to go back to Japan however she is unable to travel such a long distance at her age. Additionally I have always wanted to go to Japan with her. I feel like I have missed the opportunity however with Google Glass - it is no longer a missed opportunity! I could go to Japan and have live hangouts with my grandma while I meet her family for the first. I could take pictures and videos hands free of the activities I do - like hiking Mt Fuji, going to her hometown or riding roller coasters at DisneyTokyo. I could capture the sights and sounds of Japan and bring them to her - all while she is in the comfort of her own home in California. I would have directions and a translator at my fingertips allowing me to travel with no reservations in a foreign country. But most importantly I can have the opportunity to bring my Grandma back to Japan virtually.
Below is the video and application I created for #ifihadglass:
Travel to Japan and help my Grandma live her dream of going back to her homeland without her leaving the house. #ifihadglass I would meet family for the first time with her by my side and she would be able to experience the activities, sites and sounds of Japan again.
Fingers crossed I win a pair!!! :)
